OUR FIRST EVER::FLOWER FRIDAY::THE PEONY

After much thought, we decided that each and every Friday, we will provide our readers with a flower choice, shown in different forms on a wedding day.  For our first, Flower Friday we will get creative with peonies! These beautiful flowers happen to be my absolute favorite! These beauties are great at adding depth to a bouquet or centerpiece, they add great dimension, am immense amount of color, and did I mention how gorgeous they are? Peonies have become an extremely popular choice amongst brides in the past few years because of their modern, chic, yet simple and delicate appeal. Peonies are great when pairing with other flowers such as tulips, daises, baby’s breath, hydrangeas, delphiniums, roses, carnations, dahlias (this is my favorite pair) and succulents. Peonies come in various colors including, fuchsia, pastel pink, ivory, lavender, coral, peach, orange, and red. What I love about these gorgeous flowers most is that you can create a beautiful arrangement with just peonies or with an arrangement of multiple flowers.

 

Here are some ways to incorporate these beauties on your big day:

As bouts!

As full bouquets!

As a stand alone centerpiece!

As an escort card table arrangement!

As a bridesmaid corsage!  (Love this idea–SO different and unique from the standard bouquet)

As a place setting!

As a cake topper in sugar flowers!

As fresh flowers on the cake!

WEDDING + INVITATION ETIQUETTE

Many couples fear invitations because they can become tedious, time consuming, and stressful! Here at Simple Couture Weddings we aim to help all of our couples out as best as possible so here are a few tips and tricks that may help to alleviate your stress:

  • Save-the-dates should be sent about 6 months out, 8 months if it is a destination wedding. This gives your guest ample time to plan for time off, shop for gifts, shop for an outfit, etc.
  • Invitation should be sent out about 6-8 weeks prior to the big day. This acts as a great reminder as well as helps you with your RSVPs.
  • RSVPs should be returned between 2-3 weeks prior to the big day. This is to help with a final head count so you have the right about of food, tables, chairs, favors, etc. (Hint, always leave a table with about 4-8 seats open for those guests who forget to RSVP. It is better to have too many chairs and too much food than not enough!)
  • Your wedding website should be included on your save-the-dates not the invitation.
  • Your wedding website is where you include your registry information, not on your save-the-dates or on your invitations.
  • If you are have an “adults only” or “no plus one” wedding, make sure to address each invitation to a single person. (Hint, on the RSVP don’t leave a spot for a plus one or other family members; rather check yes if you are attending, check no if you cannot attend.)
  • Lastly dress code, the best way to inform your guests of the proper dress code is to add a little note at the bottom right-hand or left-hand corner on your invitation with a note that says “black-tie”, “cocktail attire”, or “casual attire”, etc.
  • Include directions in the invitation. Directions should include various routes.

Looking for a way to incorporate alcohol into your wedding reception without breaking the bank? Try adding signature cocktails. This is such a great way to incorporate a fun and unique element to your reception. You can even go as far as making custom cocktails tailored specifically to your wedding colors; not only will this add a great design element but also it will bring in a sense of exclusivity to your guests. For example if your colors are say blue and yellow, try making a “Blue Lagoon” and garnish with a lemon slice. (Pictures and recipe below.) Or maybe your colors are pink and green try making the “Pink Drink” and garnish with a fresh mint leaf. (Pictures and recipe below.)
